  • Pages
    • In WordPress, pages are a static element on the site and differ from and blog post.  A page is usually something like “home”, “about us”, “Portfolio”, or “Services.”
  • WordPress CMS
    • The most recent iteration of WordPress is 3.3.x.  WordPress is a Content Management System with a multitude of possibilities.  Don’t believe me?  Just ask Time.com, WSJ.com, Ford.com or hundreds of other corporations that use WordPress as their platform of choice.
  • Install a Robots.txt
    • When the Search Engines (SE) come to your website to see if you have anything of interest for the online community, they first check for your robots.txt to see what their permission levels are.  By installing a robots.txt files is like saying “hello” and inviting them in the house, but also telling them not to go in the master closet.
  • Install a Sitemap.xml
    • This is somewhat like the robots.txt but instead has a list of all the allowed pages that you want to be viewed by the SEs.
  • Install a Sitemap.xml.gz
    • Very much like sitemap.xml this one has been compressed with GZip… thus the .gz.  Google and other SEs like this because it reduces the strain on their bandwidth, so they check for this first.
  • Setup Permalinks For SEO
  • Install Standard Plugins
    • This includes 8 plugins, see them here.
  • Install Advanced Plugins
    • These plugins vary greatly dependent upon the client, but their choices are here.
  • Configure Spam Protection
    • The days of having only honest comments are over… from casino spamming to drugs, you will get hundreds of useless irritating comments if you don’t have spam protection.  I will configure custom settings so that you have the best protection available.
  • Create Custom RSS Feed
    • This allows your followers to keep up with you easier by downloading or subscribing to your website feed.
  • Install Company Logo & Graphics
    • I will work with you to incorporate custom graphics into your website so that you can stand out among the rest.  Don’t have a logo?  I can help you with that too… just email me when you place your order –
  • Design Consultation
    • Sometimes it is hard to figure out what you want in a website.  That’s why I want to lend all my expertise into building you a website that really reaches your viewers… you don’t want to go though design hell.
  • Professional Blog
    • A professional blog that is a smaller part of your website does a lot of things.  Not only can your clients and potential customers come a see what services/products you offer, but now with a professional blog you will have them coming back again and again to read your industry insights.  It is a great way to engage your customer online when coupled with a website.
  • Mobile Website Development
    • According to the Pew Research Center, “59% of All Adult Americans Go Online Wirelessly”… and that was according to a 2010 study.  With a mobile ready website, you will be providing the best experience to your users.
  • Website Search Engine Analysis
    • What’s the point of having a beautiful website if no one is coming to it?  Unless you already have a large brand, chances are you need your website SEO’d (Search Engine Optimized).  My analysis will let you know exactly what needs to be done.
  • Google Analytics
    • This will track every person coming on your website… down to how long they stayed on each page and how many times they clicked your crazy little logo.  I’m actually tracking you right now… and you’re taking too long reading all this fine print! =p
  • Google Webmaster
    • One of the most frustrating things is thinking that you have your website all up and running only to find out that one of your pages has an error and no one can access it… and the page is your sales page!  With Google Webmaster Tools, you can see what goes down as well a many other useful features.
  • Custom Pages
    • Typically with WordPress, once you setup the home page in a certain format all the other pages (about us, contact, etc) are forced into that format.  With custom pages, you can make every page on your website unique.  As unique as your crooked big toe… (yes, I noticed)
  • Custom Layout
    • Custom pages allow you to alter the content area… but what about the header(logo) area and the footer (bottom) area?  Well, now you can swap out your logo for an embedded video that takes up the whole screen… playing muppets.  Or more logically, you can display a bar graph that shows how you’ve been destroying your competition for the past 8 months. =)
  • Shopping Cart
    • There are a lot of reasons to have a website (i.e. portfolio, blog, branding, project collaboration, etc), however, increasingly websites are being leveraged for their e-commerce capabilities.   I’ll help you jump in on the action.
  • Setup of Forums
    • You want to really get folks coming to your website?  Start a forum.  You can even assign others to moderate it for free so that you only have to come back once in a blue moon.  Then advertise in it, or just use it to drive traffic to your main site… your call, but at least you’ve got folks coming. =)
